Dragons and a 4 Month Check-Up

Our little team stomped the competition! We took first in our bracket!! I'm just so stinkin' proud of our boys! Way to go Payton, Brayden, Daylen, Preston, Dominic, Coltyn, Kaden, Ryan, Jesse, Elijah, Hayes, and Tyler!

A big thank you to all those who came out and supported Payton and cheered for the team during the season. It made all the difference!

That's the end of t-ball. In the fall we're moving up to machine pitch!

Tegan's 4 month doctor's appointment was yesterday. He weighed in at......(drum roll)......a hefty 17 lbs 8 oz!! He's 26 inches long and is in the 90th percentile all round. He is perfectly healthy and is meeting all his developmental milestones right on time. He received three vaccines: his DTP, pneumococcal, and the oral Rotovirus. I spoke with the doctor about my reasons for canceling his MRI and neurology appointment. She seemed to understand, but felt that we should still do the MRI at around one year and eventually meet with the neurologist to get her opinion. I said "okay" but it's really just going to depend on Tegan. If he is growing adequately and shows no problems, then I probably won't reschedule the appointments. I just feel so confident and comfortable that there is nothing wrong with him! Here are some pictures of my little one.

This pig really made him really mad!

A Mother's Instinct

Tegan's MRI was scheduled for yesterday. The plan was to wake up around 7:30 or so, give Tegan his last feeding at 8 per the doctor's request, allow him to drink 4 ounces of pedialyte between the hours of 8 and 10, and arrive at OU Children's at 11:30, an hour before our appointment. So our morning began on schedule when I woke up at 7:30 and fed Tegan at 8. But something felt different, wrong even. As I set in his room, rocking and feeding him, I felt God telling me that this was all unnecessary. I heard him say, "He's perfect, I made him perfect." At that moment, I knew exactly what I was supposed to do. After I shed a few tears and consulting with my husband, I promptly called OU Children's and cancelled the appointment. I have decided that I will not put my child through more than he needs to. I have decided that I will not look for something that clearly is not there. He has no signs of Sturge-Weber. No seizures, no developmental delays, nothing. So I will not subject him to tests that are just not needed.

All that being said, Tegan is nearly 4 months old (a little over 17 weeks) and is already wearing 6-9 month clothing. This really puts us in a bind in the clothing department as nearly all of his 6-9 month clothes are made for the fall. Haha! I don't know exactly how much he weighs, but he has a well-child check next Tuesday, so we'll find out next week.

Payton's toe is healing. He doesn't seem to notice the stitches anymore, but on occasion will ask, "When do I get my stitches out?" I think he's going stir-crazy because he's not able to swim with them. Thankfully it's been cool enough the past couple of days to go to Frontier City as opposed to White Water. I also just found out that he starts school in the 13th of August, a full week before Mustang public schools start.

We celebrated the 4th of July on the 3rd because Richie wound up working all day on the 4th. We invited a ton of people out, but only a few came. I must say it's a little heartbreaking when plan a party, spend money on food, get your hopes up, and a hand full of people show. In fact, if it weren't for Richie's family, no one would have been here. Oh well, we still had fun.

Business is going pretty well. Two weeks ago we opened a new location at a the John Conrad Golf Course in Midwest City. We serve breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, etc... It's a little different than what we're used to, but it's working out pretty well for us so far.

Until next time, thanks for reading!

A Rite of Passage

Payton got his first set of stitches last night! He was climbing on the bed of a friend's dad's truck and cut the bottom of his big toe. I have never seen so much blood! As soon as we got the bleeding under control, we paid the E.R. a visit where he received 4 stitches. And it would be like me if I didn't take pictures to document the whole ordeal!

In other news, P90X is not going as well as we would have hoped. Because Richie opened a new location at a golf course, our schedule has gotten all messed up. We attempted to restart the program on Monday and Richie promptly pulled a muscle in his neck. So I am continuing to workout while Richie heals and hopefully next Monday we will begin again together.

Also, the fenugreek I have been taking to help with my lactation actually WORKS! So, to all you moms who breastfeed or future moms who hope to breastfeed, keep in mind that fenugreek is a God send!

Tegan is coming up on 4 months and is getting so big, I can hardly carry him in his carrier car seat anymore. Next Monday is his MRI and the following day is his neurology appointment. I am excited to have these appointments done and over with. The MRI should be our last appointment that deals with his brain. If the scan shows no vascular malformations, we'll know that he doesn't have Sturge-Weber! There is not a doubt in my mind that the MRI will come back completely normal.

Well, I should probably go do something constructive considering my little one is sound asleep.

Until next time,

Aimee
