As of September 17th

i had my second doctor's appointment on the 17th and i couldn't quite believe that there's a baby in there! although i am 14 weeks and in my second trimester, i don't look pregnant in the least. i haven't gained any weight yet, and i am still wearing all of my prepregnancy clothes. so, part of me was wondering if the four positive pregnancy tests were just flukes or figments of my imagination. however, when they scanned the transducer across my belly, there "it" was! nearly fully developed with a face, tiny fingers and wiggly legs. payton and daddy were there and "it" waved at all of us! payton was so excited...he talked about it all night!

on wednesday, i go in for my triple marker test. this is a test in which they draw my blood and test for various proteins that the baby emits. if these proteins are too high or too low, it could indicate a problem with the baby. i have chosen to have this test performed not for the option of terminating the pregnancy if there is something wrong, but if there is a concern, that we will have specific prayer petitions for God. And that we will be able to prepare for the remainder of the pregnancy for a special needs baby.

at my next regular OB appointment, i will be finding out the sex!

The Unexpected

Originally posted on the 8th of August...

life is unexpected sometimes. for those of you who don't know or haven't heard, i am approximately 8 weeks pregnant. this was quite a shock as we had no immediate plans to have another baby. i mean, i just started the last year of college for goodness sakes. however, God's plan is so perfect! all i can do is rejoice in the blessing. the new baby is due on march 23, four days before Payton's 6th birthday. needless to say, we are all super excited. Payton is so curious. he asks things like, "how big is the baby right now?" and "when is the baby going to come?" he is also quite concerned with my well-being. he asks me at least once a day how i am feeling and if i'm okay. he is also using it to manipulate me a little. the other night he wanted someone to come lie down with him, so he said, "mama, you and the baby can come lie down with me in my bed." i knew he was pulling my heartstrings to get his way, but it was so cute i couldn't resist.
aside from the baby news, school is going pretty well. only approximately 13 more months and i'll be done (for about 6 months, then i'll start my masters program). Payton has started fall tee ball. he really enjoys playing and has an incredible team. he starts Kindergarden on t he 20th and is ready to go back to school. Richie is working hard to make life great for all of us. he is focusing on building a REAL business for our future, and so far it has exceeded our expectations. we bought a coffee shop as Casady schools and will be opening that on the 20th of August. we will also be tapping into the catering at Casady, which will provide a substantial amount of money!
all in all, life is pretty great. we're really excited about our future!
